Hi Everyone! My name is, Paula. Thanks for stopping by to check out my blog. This is a whole new world for me, so please bare with me while I blindly dive into this new adventure. I won’t know, until later, if being such a novice will help or hurt me, but here goes nothing.
I wanted to write this blog as a way of helping others through sharing my own lessons in life, and what they taught me. I also want to share how I use what I’ve learned to help my family, friends, and others. I realize a lot of other people are doing the same thing in their blogs, but what I have to say may ring true for someone out there, and it could help them get through the tough times in life. Hopefully the way I present it, will keep you coming back. Now a little about me before I make my first official post.
I’ve been married to a wonderful man for 41yrs, and we have a son and twin daughters. The highlight of my life is being Grandma to my 3 grandsons and my granddaughter. I’m a writer (but never published), and an avid reader. Metaphysical, romance, historical, and biographies are some of my favorites, but mostly I’m your typical stay at home mom who was forced into retirement because my kids grew up. (How could they!) If I thought raising a family was stressful, it was a walk in the park compared to the harder lessons I would learn through my middle-aged years. It’s very true that saying, “With age, comes wisdom” because now with hindsight under my belt, I want to share the tools I used to get myself though it all. But, first, I want to tell you how I came up with the name for my Blog.
During a trip to Disneyland, our first one as a married couple, we were walking through the crowd when I heard a girl complaining about the Matterhorn ride. I quipped back something about her needing a seat belt. She turned and said, “You’re a weird chick, man.” Being in my early twenties, I still cared what other people thought of me, so I let it bother me only because of the intention behind it. To put me down.
One day I shared, with the friend who was with us on that trip, how much I let it affect me. She helped me to think differently about it by changing its intent into a joke. We started calling each other weird chicks and welcomed others into the WCC. The Weird Chick’s Club. Now I’m taking it another step further changing her negative intent into a positive one with, “This Weird Chick’s Blog.”
As my blog grows, I will add different categories, but for now I’ll start with two. The first one is about everything I’ve learned through therapy. It opened my eyes about other people’s motives in life, and how it can affect me. The second one is everything I’ve learned through my metaphysical journey. Lots to cover.
So, with no further ado, my first blog post is about the one thing that had the most impact on me, as a person, and how it taught me how to deal with all the problems life has to throw me. Hope you enjoy, This Weird Chick’s Blog.
